The carbon filter is made from Activate coconut charcoal which is effective in removing harmful VOC’s (volatile organic compounds). The most common VOC is chlorine which is often used to treat town and city water sources. We recommend replacing the filter approximately once a month based on daily use.

Activated Carbon Mega Pods - Six-Pack
Made from coconut shells. Safely removes any potential residual odor or taste. Also helps remove any remaining VOC gases. For all H2oLabs and Megahome models, and other water distillers with nozzle-type activated carbon filter housings. (Porcelain insert and nozzle not included. Can be used with or without a glass or porcelain insert.)

Eliminates VOCs more effectively than regular sachets and lasts longer. Also easier to install – just drop the pod into the nozzle, (no folding, etc.)

Instructions:
Each time a new Activated Carbon Pod is to be used for the first time, soak it in a cup of distilled water until it is saturated. (It is recommended to use distilled water in order to prevent contamination from regular water.)

Then dip the pod repeatedly into the cup of distilled water several times to remove any carbon dust. (Any activated carbon dust is harmless charcoal made from coconut shells.)

Insert the pod into the nozzle housing. Be sure to leave a little space at the bottom so it will not block water from exiting the outlet.

The Activated Carbon Pod helps to reduce any discernible taste or residual VOC gases.

Replace each Activated Carbon Pod every 2 months or after 60 distillation cycles, whichever occurs sooner. Also replace if there is any noticeable taste or odor. When not in use for more than 24 hours, store in a clean, dry place.

Fits H2oLabs and Megahome countertop units as well as other water distillers with nozzle type carbon housings.

Demand Pump Kit for Model 500E
The demand pump can be installed on the side or back of the distiller or in any other convenient location. The distilled water spigot has an extra outlet in which to attach the water line to the pump inlet. Another water line is attached between the pump outlet and the pressure switch. The water line is then run from the pressure switch to the pure water faucet and/or to a refrigerator with cold water dispenser or automatic ice maker. Maintenance: The H2OMATIC Model 500E is very easy to maintain. Drain the evaporation chamber weekly by opening the drain valve on the side of the unit. This takes about 2 minutes and will keep the evaporation chamber from accumulating excessive water scale making it easier to clean when necessary. Then approx. every couple months or so, (depending on the condition of the source water), drain the evaporation chamber and close the drain valve, pour in some cleaning crystals and warm water and let set for a while to soften the water scale on the heating element, and then drain the evaporation chamber and bush off the softened scale with a toothbrush, rinse the evaporation chamber, close the drain valve and turn the unit on. That’s it. Only takes a few minutes effort every few weeks.

Energy consumption: The energy consumption is 675 watts, (per hour), making approx. 20 Litres per day, or approx. 810 watts per Litre. Running full steam for 24 hours makes approx. 20 Litres using approx. 16 Kilowatts. (However for most applications, the unit will not be running 24/7 depending on how much distilled water is required for your purposes.)
